The Great Sierra River Cleanup
Saturday, September 25, 2010, 9am
ESLT is proud to be part of the larger Great Sierra River Cleanup and the Coastal Cleanup Day 2010 which takes place on September 25. Come join the efforts to clean up our precious water system! Every piece of trash eventually ends up downstream, so help clean a waterway that leads into the recreational areas we all enjoy – from the Owens River to the Pacific Ocean. For more detailed information, please email Sarah Spano at sarah@eslt.org or call 760-873-4554.
Preparing for Fall Foliage Photography
Sunday, September 26, 3-6pm
In anticipation of another awesome autumn, ESLT will host a short workshop, Preparing for Fall Foliage Photograph. This workshop will be different than the typical fall color photo workshops: it doesn't cost a fortune, cameras are prohibited, no scenes will be photographed, and the leaves may still be green. Instead, we're going to talk about strategies that should yield better photographs and look at prints to discuss what approaches can create a range of autumn-themed images. Founding ESLT board member Rick Kattelmann will lead the discussion and offer ideas about photographing the colors of autumn. The workshop will be in Bishop from 3 to 6 pm on September 26, followed by pizza. The cost is $35 for ESLT members. Please call or email Sarah Spano (760/873-4554 or sarah@eslt.org) to reserve one of the dozen spaces.
October

Thursday, October 21, 2010, 9-11am
Part of ESLT’s responsibility as a community organization is to help maintain our Adopt-a-HWY section of HWY 395. Join AmeriCorps member Sarah Spano for this “do good” activity, which will only take an hour with the help of several volunteers. Enjoy delicious homemade cookies afterward! To RSVP and for more information, please email sarah@eslt.org or call 760-873-4554.

Stargazing Party

Volunteer Appreciation Potluck & Info Session
Thursday, November 18
ESLT is deeply grateful to our volunteers who regularly contribute to the important work being done to preserve private land in the Eastern Sierra. We will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Potluck and Info Session the week before Thanksgiving, taking time to thank existing volunteers and inviting new volunteers to come on board. Staff members will be unveiling several enhancement and monitoring projects, highlighting ways in which volunteers can stay active and present within the ESLT community. Come join ESLT if you’ve volunteered before or are interested in learning more. Bring your favorite thanksgiving dish along to share. To RSVP or for more information please email Sarah Spano at sarah@eslt.org or call 760-873-4554.
